Youth concerts Monday in Am.F.

AMERICAN FORK -- The Celebration Young Performers and Extreme Kids V.I.P. will perform Monday at 7 p.m. at the Amphitheater at Quail Cove.

Six groups of performers, all age-based, pattern their shows after Brigham Young University's Young Ambassadors, director Angie Bynum said. The groups rehearse in a rented hall in Cedar Hills, then put on musical variety shows at various venues around Utah and Salt Lake counties, Bynum said.

Bynum and founder Sherrie Whitehead hire former BYU Young Ambassadors to teach the youthful performers. A total of 70 are signed up for the summer session, but registrations for the fall- winter and spring sessions usually number about 120, Bynum said.

Fees are $49 per month, plus costuming. Participants get to attend celebrity workshops with local celebrities, including acting, auditioning and showmanship.

Extreme Kids V.I.P. comes from Center Stage Performing Arts in Orem and features performers ages 11 to 17. The group's summer programs feature songs from the two "High School Musical" films. Students from the school have toured across America and have appeared in movies and on television.
