KEMMERER, Wyo. -- Salt Lake County sheriff's detectives tracked down a man this week, nearly a decade after he was charged with sexually abusing a family member.
Randy Curtis Gibbons was found after a tipster called local investigators this week, said Lt. Paul Jaroscak.
Charges were filed around the time Gibbons disappeared 10 years ago. Jaroscak was unsure whether Gibbons' disappearance was related to the charges being filed.
Detectives, including a man who worked the case a decade ago and who now handles the county's cold cases, were interviewing Gibbons in Wyoming on Monday. The man is accused of sexually abusing a family member over the course of about eight years, Jaroscak said.
"Some pretty heinous things were alleged," he said. "At least part of the wait is over for the family."
The sheriff's office keeps video- and audiotapes of interviews with victims. "We have some pretty secure evidence," Jaroscak said.
