Democratic convention: The cable networks -- CNN, C-SPAN, FNC, MSNBC -- will provide coverage pretty much all day long. In prime time, PBS (Ch. 7) will be on from 7-10 p.m.; ABC (Ch. 4), CBS (Ch. 2) and NBC (Ch. 5) all plan an hour at 8 p.m.

Gavin and Stacey (6:40, 9:40 and 11:40 p.m., BBC America): Amusing new British comedy about a couple in a new relationship -- and what it's like meeting the other's family.

America's Got Talent (7 and 9 p.m., Ch. 5): This new (but not live in this time zone), two-hour episode is broken in half by convention coverage.

World's Funniest Commercials 2008 (7 p.m., TBS): Ads from around the world.

Greek (10 and 11 p.m., ABC Family): In the second-season premiere, it's the annual Greek Week competition.
