1929 ~ 2009
John Edward Cicon, Sr., age 79, of Moosic, PA, died January 18, 2009 of cancer at his home surrounded by family in West Jordan, UT. John will always be remembered as a gentle soul, and one who possessed a pure, kindly and radiant heart.Born in Duryea, PA, on October 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Andrew Cicon and Pauline Gvodt. John was the oldest of 13 children and learned hard work at an early age. He farmed as a young boy and always helped with the younger children. John was an Army Veteran of the Korean War; he received honors for National Defense Service, Good Conduct, Army Occupation (Japan) and Korean Service. He was a trained paratrooper and served in the 187th Glider Infantry Regiment. He served from 1946-1955 and honorably discharged as Sergeant. He married Mary Jane Vosburg July, 1956 and had nine children together. They lived and raised their family in Moosic, PA., for the next 50 years then moved to West Jordan, UT in 2007. John retired from GNB in Dunmore, PA after having varied vocations, to include working in the coal mines in Susquehanna County. He had many callings as he served for the last 47 years in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, including most recently, as temple worker at the Jordan River Temple.

Surviving are his wife; Mary Jane Vosburg Cicon, children; five sons, John E. Cicon, Jr., of Dallas TX, James Cicon and wife Margaret of Columbia, MO, Jared Cicon and wife Marlaine of Claremont, CA, Jesse Cicon and wife Lynette of Eagle Mountain, UT, and Joshua Cicon and wife April of West Jordan, UT, three daughters, Jeanine Cicon and husband Rick King of Dillsburg, PA, Joanne Cicon and husband Mike Paulich of Draper, UT, and Jacqueline Cicon of Scranton, PA, three sisters Pauline Abate and husband Michael of Fairfax, VA, Josephine Darling of KY, Anna Cicon of Kingston, PA, three brothers, Paul Cicon and wife Celeste of Fleetville, PA, Joseph Cicon of San Diego, CA, Mike Cicon of MS, 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also preceding in death was daughter; Jane Marie Cicon Smith and brothers; Peter, Steven, Frank, Andrew, Steven II, Matthew
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2009, 12:00 p.m. at the Westland 10th Ward, 7845 South 3200 West, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 10:00 -11:30 a.m. (Services will be conducted by McDougal Funeral Home) Interment following the services, with full military honors, at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
