1912 ~ 2009

Stanford Soule Van Fleet beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on April 30, 2009 at the place he loved best, home, surrounded by his loving family.He was born on December 30, 1912 in Farmington, Utah to Horace and Eva Soule Van Fleet. He married the love of his life, Josephine Adams on June 29, 1936. They reared two children, Bradford and Kristine.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years, retiring as a District Special Agent in 1977. Prior to his retirement and for another 15 years he raised cattle and worked on his farm in Farmington, Utah to everyone's amazement.

He was an honorable man and a true gentleman. He was known for his physical strength as well as his strength of character. His family always came first and he loved spending time with them. He enjoyed hard work, he was honest, kind, generous, respectful to everyone he met, and had a great sense of humor. He was interested in current events and enjoyed Jazz games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Hod and son. Survived by his wife, daughter, daughter-in-law Cletah and her husband Kim Madsen, grandchildren April Van Fleet Ycmat, David Madsen, Todd Madsen and Cindy Price and his great-grandchildren Danielle, Mckenzie, McLayne, Jason, Ryan, Skylar and Cameron.

He will be deeply missed and his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of his family for generations to come.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 4, 2009, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends may also call one hour prior to funeral services, which will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.
