Council fundraiser to benefit ADA
0 Comments | Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Jun 7, 2009
Diabetes claimed the life of Larry H. Miller, but officials hope a fundraiser will help those with diabetes have a better chance in the future.
On June 17, the American Diabetes Association and the Father's Day Council will celebrate the upcoming annual paternal holiday with a fundraiser dinner. The donations will go to the ADA for its mission to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of those already living with it. Roughly 171,000 Utahns have a variation of the condition, according to the ADA.
Officials will also use the night as an opportunity to honor Miller's memory and family. The local millionaire philanthropist died in February due to complications from type 2 diabetes. The ADA and Father's Day Council will also honor the medical professionals who fight the war against the condition.
