A friend to all and the glue that held our big Irish family together, Bernice Farley left this mortal existence early on June 6, 2009, surrounded by her daughters and husband and in the thoughts and prayers of all her children, grandchildren and many friends. She had valiantly fought for health for many years and had many victories until her last few months. She learned patience through tribulations and had the most generous of hearts.Bernice was born on June 3, 1922 to Patrick Joseph Hulihan and Ethel Howells Hulihan in Corvallis, Oregon. She lived her early years in Pocatello, Idaho and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 5. She graduated from Covina High School and attended Chaffey College. Just before Pearl Harbor she met her future husband, LeGrande Farley at Adams Ward and she waited for him throughout the war, finally able to be married on August 27, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple, the ceremony being performed by President George Albert Smith. Their union was belssed by five children who were her greatest treasure - until she had grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life and she was constantly looking for ways to bless all of their lives. Bernice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including Relief Society President and many teaching callings. She loved to teach. One of the highlights of her life was her mission to Zimbabwe with her husband in 1983-84. The other highlight was her service as an ordinance worker for eight years in the Portland, Oregon Temple.

She is survived by her husband LeGrande (Lee) and her five children, Dianne Farley-Jones (Steve), Jeanine Wiley, Sharon Parsons, Daniel J. Farley (Honey) and David B. Farley (Ann), as well as 23 devoted grandchildren and 25 adoring great -grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother John R. Hulihan (Patty) of Salmon, Idaho and a sister Lois Sinclair of Glendora, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Dorothy Howard, and sons-in-law Arthur C. Wiley and Steven W. Parsons.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 12 noon at the Orem Park 3rd Ward, 195 West 300 South in Orem. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, June 10, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem and also Thursday one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel.
