Man demanded sex from teen, police say

CLEARFIELD -- A man who police say demanded sex from a teenage girl in exchange for room, board and cigarettes was arrested Friday.
The man, 26, asked that the girl, who is 16 or 17, repay his generosity in sex acts, said Clearfield Assistant Police Chief Greg Krusi.
"He didn't want cash payment," Krusi said. "I don't think she's working, so she felt obligated to satisfy him."
Police became aware of the crime after the girl reported the incident to her school resource officer, who then alerted a patrol officer. Krusi said the girl was feeling guilty for having sex with a married man, who may also have a child.

The girl came to live in the home after being kicked out of her own home by her mother, Krusi said. One of the girl's friends, also a teenage girl, was already living at the man's home, and it was this connection that led to her living there.
Police said they don't know what the nature of the relationship was between the friend and the man, nor do they know how long the alleged victim was living in the home before she reported the crime.
Brandon Doyle Barrett, 26, was arrested for investigation of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old. After Friday's arrest, he was released on bail, and formal charges are pending.
