Fayette, Utah - Kelly Dale Mellor, 54, passed away June 21, 2009 at home in Fayette. He was born October 29, 1954 in Gunnison, Utah to Max and Thelma Sorensen Mellor. He married Lynette Sampson, May 23, 1973 in Salina, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

Kelly believed and taught that the family is the most important and valuable part of life. His every endeavor was in support of his family.

He was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many areas.

He was civic minded and proudly served as Fayette Town Mayor. He was instrumental in bringing the new water system and natural gas to Fayette.

Kelly was a diesel mechanic and was an owner operator of his own long haul truck. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing and being with his family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Lynette, of Fayette; children, Michelle (Mike) Schoenfeld of Taylorsville, Duane Mellor of Fayette, Charlene (Dallas) Lara of Eagle Mountain, Natalie (Michael) Peterson of Fayette; grandchildren, Haylie, Mandolyn, Max, Mikellyn and Ava; mother, Thelma Mellor of Fayette; brother, Larry (Mary) Mellor of West Jordan; sister-in-law, Jenny Mellor of Mona and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, D. Max Mellor and brother, Glenn Mellor.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 12:00 Noon in the Fayette LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 and again on Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30. Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery.
