How to bread foods
0 Comments | Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Jun 24, 2009
Breading adds a unique flavor and texture to many items -- including meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, and potatoes -- and keeps moisture in. Here's how to do it:
1. Get the ingredients together -- flour, eggs and bread crumbs.
2. Crack the eggs into a bowl, discarding the shells, and beat them into a nice even mixture.
3. Place bread crumbs in a pan or plate, and add desired salt, pepper or other seasonings. Use purchased bread crumbs from the grocery store, or make your own by drying out bread and crushing it up.
4. Place the flour in a separate pan or plate, and add salt and pepper and stir.
5. Coat your food item entirely with flour.

6. Dip it into the egg.
7. Dip into the bread crumbs, The flour helps the egg to stick and the egg hold the bread crumbs on.
8. Fry or grill the item to seal the breading on. If you don't have enough breading on an item, you can repeat the breading process.
9. After cooking the outside of the breaded item, the inside may not always be done completely. If so, place the items on a sheet or roasting pan and finish cooking in the oven to desired temperature.
