Verl Jesse Wilde

1916 ~ 2009

Verl Jesse Wilde, age 93, passed away June 22, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Verl was born February 6, 1916, in Coalville, Utah, to Charles Ernest and Della Nix Wilde. He completed his early education at North Summit High School in Coalville, Utah, where he participated actively in sports. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1939. Between 1939 and 1941 he coached and taught school at Moroni High in Sanpete County.

He entered military service August 5, 1942, and for the next four years was assigned as a physical training instructor in the Army Air Corps Air Base, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Here he met and married Dawn Potter, November 2, 1944.

Verl worked for the Veteran's Administration in Salt Lake City for 28 years. After retiring from the VA in 1974, he worked for the Salt Lake City and County Health Department until 1981.

Verl is survived by sons Craig P. (Debbie); Michael B. (Christine) and Jeffrey V. (Joyce); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Verl was a devoted husband to his wife, Dawn, of 58 years. During her last years, Verl dealt with Dawn's declining health with tender care. Her death in 2002 left a large void in his life. A smile would always grace his face when his grand-children and great grandchildren would visit. He always maintained a wonderful sense of humor despite his declining mobility. To the very end, he cherished his independence, living in the home in neighborhood he loved for more than 50 years.

A loving husband, caring father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend to all who knew him, Verl will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. Dedicate in the name of Verl Jesse Wilde.
