Willard died peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from complications related to pneumonia.Willard was born on December 15, 1910 in Woods Cross, Utah. When he was three years old, his father moved the family to Deeth, Nevada in order to ranch. He graduated from eighth grade in a two-room schoolhouse in Star Valley, Nevada. In 1928, Willard returned to Utah and graduated from Davis High School and attended Utah State University. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) for a brief period and then enlisted in the Army at the beginning of World War II. He married LaVerna before leaving for the war in Europe. His most vivid memory of the war was the Battle of the Bulge.

After five years, he returned to LaVerna and a son (Kirk) and worked for Phillips Petroleum in Woods Cross for 36 years.

Willard was a lifelong USU fan and contributor to the Big Blue Club. They never passed up an opportunity to drive to Logan to attend any USU sporting activity. After retiring, he and LaVerna were active in retail ventures at Trolley Square and Foothill Village Malls in Salt Lake City. His favorite trip was to Wendover for a beverage, gamble, food and FUN.

Survived by his wife of 66 years, LaVerna; one daughter, Paula (Bradley); four sons, Kirk (Susan), Ricky, Loy and Willard Kim (Shauna); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Bountiful City Cemetery. A private family viewing will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main prior to services. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com
