Commack-based web services firm, Invision.com, wins economic

Long Island Business News, Dec 27, 2002 by Ben Abelson

Web services firm Invison.com plans to consolidate its two offices at 47 Mall Drive in Commack into 14,000 square feet of commercial space there.

The company won an economic incentive package that includes a $100,000 capital grant and a $50,000 training grant from Albany- based Empire State Development Corp. to facilitate the move.

The capital grant will be used to acquire equipment for the expanded location.

Invision, an Internet service provider and Web designer, has experienced rapid sales and employment growth. Between 1999 and 2001, sales increased from $3 million to $9.5 million. It now employs 60 people, a total that could jump to 110 as part of the expansion.

Presently, Invision operates from three separate locations, including the two offices in Commack and one in Islip.

ESD also awarded a grant of up to $50,000 to help establish a Long Island museum of astronomy in Islandia.

The proposed 200,000-square-foot museum would be known as the Museum of the Universe. A recently completed market feasibility study concluded that the proposed museum would be viable and could employ more than 200 full- and part-time workers.
