Acclaim takes aim in DC Comics deal

Long Island Business News, Jun 13, 2003 by LIBN STAFF

Acclaim Entertainment Inc. (Nasdaq: AKLM) signed a deal with DC Comics to create a video game based on the 100 Bullets comics series, the company announced Wednesday.

Acclaim, which has been seeking to reinvigorate sales by bringing comic book and TV show characters into the video game world, did not reveal the terms of the agreement.

A pulp noir comic written by Brian Azzarello with art by Eduardo Risso, 100 Bullets is a monthly series published by the Vertigo imprint of DC Comics.

Gear Magazine called 100 Bullets "the latest comic sensation," while Entertainment Weekly gave the series an A- as a "revenge fantasy turned into a hard boiled comic book."
