Pearl Kamer, the Long Island Association's chief economist, was appointed professor of finance in the Adelphi University Business School's department of finance and economics.

"I am excited to be joining Adelphi because I enjoy teaching and because the university has become such a vibrant and engaged partner in the regional business community," Kamer said.

At Adelphi, Kamer will also be responsible for developing an institute for the study of international business and an educational forum for issues pertaining to the global economy.

" ... I share a dedication to finding new ways to meet the needs of Long Island's evolving business community and I am looking forward to working with others to strengthen Adelphi's already impressive leadership in this area," she said.

As chief economist for LIA, Long Island's largest business organization, Kamer has monitored the local, regional and national economic trends affecting Long Island for 38 years.

She also serves on the boards of the Health and Welfare Council, the Route 110 Redevelopment Corp., the Suffolk Community Council and the Broadhollow Bioscience Park, located at Farmingdale State University of New York.
