U.S. Army testing E-Z-EM chemical warfare lotion

Long Island Business News, Nov 28, 2003 by LIBN Staff

E-Z-EM Inc. (AMEX: EZM) said Monday the U.S. Army has signed a contract for the final testing of a skin decontamination lotion that it manufactures.

E-Z-EM produces the Reactive Skin Decontamination Lotion for Cambridge, Ontario-based O'Dell Engineering Ltd.

The Army will buy limited quantities of the lotion for a series of clinical and operational test to determine a final configuration for the product, E-Z-EM said.

The tests follow the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's approval of the product in March.

The lotion reacts very rapidly with deadly chemical warfare agents, neutralizing them into a non-toxic mix within a matter of seconds, E-Z-EM said.

The lotion is currently being used by the Canadian, Australia, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

O'Dell and E-Z-EM have an exclusive, long-term partnership to commercialize the lotion under a license from the Canadian government for sales to military and emergency services organizations worldwide.
