Comverse Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: CMVT) has sold its billing system for prepaid and subscription customers to Mobile-8, a new Indonesian cellular provider, the company announced.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The real-time billing system covers both voice and data services.

Real-time billing for all voice and data transactions, the authorization of every service request, the imposing of a credit limit on all accounts, and instant availability of usage information are essential in order for the revenue potential of new services to be realized fully and in a secure way, said Zeev Bregman, chief executive officer of Comverse, the subsidiary of Comverse Technology that made the deal. As a new company entering a fiercely competitive field, Mobile-8 needs a secure real-time service offering for integrated control and support of both its prepaid and post-paid subscriber operations.
