Audiovox chief rides wave of technological change

In June, the company made one of its biggest moves ever, agreeing to sell its 75 percent-owned mobile phone handset unit to Alameda, Calif-based UTStarcom Inc. The sale gets Audiovox out of the crowded cellular phone field and nets it about $90 million in cash.
Even though I'm 70, I still feel I have a lot of productive years, Shalam said. I love coming to work. At this point, I can go on a holiday. But, at the same time, I contribute to the development of the company.
