CPI Aerostructures Inc. awarded subcontract for C-5 parts

Long Island Business News, Aug 6, 2004 by LIBN Staff

CPI Aerostructures Inc. has been selected by Vought Aircraft Industries Inc. to supply various parts for the C-5 Galaxy aircraft in a deal valued at up to $10 million over seven years.

Dallas-based Vought on July 29 said the U.S. Air Force awarded it a contract to manufacture 128 wing and fuselage components for the C- 5 Aircraft.

Vought then designated CPI as a subcontractor for 14 of those parts in a move CPI billed as potentially the beginning of a larger relationship with the defense contractor.

In addition to the 14 CPI-designated parts, Vought is considering outsourcing the production of additional parts to CPI, he said.

Vought has annual sales of approximately $1.2 billion and more than 6,000 employees in seven locations in the United States.

CPI already supplies parts for a wide range of aircraft, including the C-5A Galaxy cargo jet, the T-38 Talon jet trainer, the A-10 Thunderbolt attack jet and the E-3 Sentry AWACS jet.
