Eight new doctors named to the staff of Mather Memorial Hospital

Eight new doctors have been named to the staff of Mather Memorial Hospital.

Hematologist/Oncologist Jeffrey Vacirca works at the practice of North Shore Hematology Oncology Associates in East Setauket. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University Hospital in Stony Brook, where he was named Outstanding Resident of the Year in 1999. There he also completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology.

Anthony Theodoris, a pulmonary and critical care specialist, practices at North Shore Pulmonary Associates in Port Jefferson. He earned a medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed a residency in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital, a pulmonary fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital and a critical care fellowship at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center.

Lina Mitchell practices at Sound Endocrinology in Stony Brook. She was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2002. Mitchell served her residency at Kaunas 3rd Clinic Hopsital in Lithuania and then worked in internal medicine there. In the United States, she was resident at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati and served as fellow in endocrinology at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Sanjay Gupta joined the practice of New York Imaging in Port Jefferson, East Setauket and Smithtown. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and served as chief resident from 2002-2003.

Zeenat Hussein comes to Mather from Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, where she was an attending physician in the department of internal medicine since 1998. She completed a residency training program in internal medicine at Nassau University Medical Center.

Jason Fishbein was appointed to the staff as an internist. He practices at North Shore Internal Medicine in Terryville. Fishbein earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001.

Neurologist Christopher Sinclair also was appointed to the staff. He practices at Sound Neurology in Port Jefferson and recently completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University.

In addition, family practitioner Esther Sumitra-Albert also joins the staff at Mather Hospital. She is medical director of Just Kids Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Middle Island. Previously, she practiced in New York and in San Diego where she provided care to military families.
