Two Long Island Huffman Koos sites bought by furniture companies

Long Island Business News, Oct 29, 2004 by Nick Anastasi

It looks as if furniture shoppers will still be visiting the Carle Place and Farmingdale sites previously run by Huffman Koos.

At an auction held Oct. 6 in Delaware, KLA Breuners LLC, an affiliate of Klaff Realty, Lubert Adler and Levitz Furniture, was the top bidder for the Farmingdale location, and Levitz is expected to occupy that space in the near future.

In Carle Place, investment group Cheyenne LLC won the bidding, and the Raymour Flanigan furniture company plans to take over the location.

Breuners Home Furnishings Corp., the parent company of Huffman Koos, filed for Chapter 11 protection on July 14 and filed court papers to have Great Neck-based Keen Realty market and dispose of the company's leasehold interests, including the two Long Island Huffman Koos locations.
