Energy company KeySpan Corp. grooms Robert J. Fani for CEO position

Energy company KeySpan Corp. has extended the contract of Chief Executive Officer Robert Catell through July, 31, 2006, and positioned President and Chief Operating Officer Robert J. Fani to serve as his likely successor.
Catell's extension was for one year.
KeySpan is a supplier of natural gas services and the provider of much of Long Island's electricity.
Fani also will be elected to KeySpan's board next year.
Catell said that Fani's position on the board would help provide for smooth management succession.
