Orbit International Corp. received a follow-on contract valued at more than $1.4 million for emergency response displays for the New York and Atlanta transit systems.Orbit, a military defense electronics supplier, said the deal follows an initial production award placed in the second quarter of 2005 and will double the Hauppauge company's annual production rate of the device, which it manufactures at its Quakertown, Penn. facility.

Orbit's Mobile Display Terminals are two-way communication devices that permit bus and train drivers to be in contact and monitored by dispatchers. The MDT makes emergency response quicker and fleet repositioning more efficient, the company said. The newest generation features a 3-inch-by-5-inch color screen.
