Babylon Town Board asks LIPA, KeySpan to evaluate costs of

Most recently in August, we've written about Babylon Town officials' dissatisfaction with LIPA's proposed off-shore wind park south of the Island.
Now the Babylon Town Board has adopted a resolution calling on the Long Island Power Authority and plant operator KeySpan Corp. to evaluate whether it would be cheaper to clean up existing power plants - through a process known as repowering - rather than have FPL Energy build the wind farm.

"The public has a right to know which projects will deliver the most environmental benefits at the lowest cost, instead of having one plan fast-tracked without proper analysis," Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone said.
