Resi Cooper leaves Senator Hillary Clinton's camp

Long Island Business News, Dec 14, 2006 by Jeremy Harrell

Resi Cooper, Hillary Clinton's face on Long Island, has formed her own consulting business.

Cooper, who worked for the last seven years for Clinton, most recently as the political director of the senator's re-election campaign, said she was due to return to her senate job last week, but instead decided to open her own shop.

But just because she's left the senator's staff doesn't mean she's left Hillary Clinton. Cooper's outfit is aligned with Robert Zimmerman, a Great Neck-based public relations executive and big- time national Democratic booster.

"For the time being, the only political consulting I want to do is with the senator," Cooper said.

Neither Zimmerman nor Clinton were immediately available for comment.

Cooper, who doesn't plan to limit her consulting work to politics, considers herself a labor and government relations expert, and wants to help people "who have trouble navigating the government."
