Ones to watch: Long Island Accounting Firms

Long Island Business News, Mar 16, 2007 by Claude Solnik

Carin Giuliante

Partner,

Deloitte Tax LLP

With Deloitte since 1994, Giuliante became a partner in 2002, a fast track for this Big Four firm. As law and accounting increasingly overlap, she's prepared with a background in both and a dual perspective in her work. Giuliante, based in Jericho, earned her juris doctorate from the Hofstra School of Law followed by a master of laws degree in taxation in 1997 from New York University.

Stephen Mannhaupt

Partner,

Grassi & Co.

Meet one of the Long Island accounting world's newest partners, but hardly a new arrival to the profession. Mannhaupt became a partner this year after working with the firm for more than 13 years, starting as a junior accountant and working his way up the ranks. He specializes in construction, engineering, real estate, professional service firms and not-for-profits. In addition to providing management consulting, he has done forensic and financial statement audits.

David Silverman

Partner,

PricewaterhouseCoopers

Silverman is a specialist in high finance and high tech. A partner in PWC's Technology, Information, Communication and Entertainment Group, his expertise applies to a wide range of industries. He advises public and private companies in high-tech, traditional media and new media, and he's the managing partner of the firm's New York venture capital practice. Silverman has helped clients with restructurings, acquisitions, bankruptcies, spin-offs and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Roberto Viceconte

Senior tax manager,

Weiser

A professional with more than 10 years of estate and financial planning experience, he has particular expertise in sophisticated tax planning for the elderly and the wealthy. In addition to being a CPA, he is a certified financial planner and attorney. Viceconte also is an instructor for Pace University's Certified Financial Planner Program and treasurer and board member of the Nassau County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Beth Wiener

Partner,

Marcum & Kliegman

One of the most successful practice areas for the firm is hedge funds, and Wiener is one of the people to thank for that. She joined Marcum & Kliegman in 1995 and was promoted to partner in 2002. Today she's partner-in-charge and co-founder of the firm's Hedge Fund Investment Partnership Group. Wiener works with clients, develops internal education curriculum, strategic planning, administration and policies and procedures. She is active in Hedge Funds Care, an association dedicated to helping child abuse victims and leads the firm in the Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes.
