Colorado Springs receives Take Pride in America award

> The City of Colorado Springs is the only local government to receive the Take Pride in America award.The U.S. Department of Interior established the award as a national partnership that aims to engage, support and recognize volunteers who work to improve public parks, forests, grasslands, wildlife refuges, cultural and historical sites, playgrounds and other recreational areas.The city received the award for the 2005 Arbor Day revegitation project in Red Rock Canyon.Volunteers planted 2,800 seedlings on nearly 10 acres of open space in the park.
