Business owners urged to read the fine print

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado is warning small business owners to read the fine print if they receive a check from YP Corp.Although the check looks official, a paragraph on the back states that by depositing the check in a business account, the signer agrees to pay $27.50 a month in exchange for listing the signer's company information on the YP.com Web site.
Although the check initially seems to be some sort of rebate, the signed and deposited check is actually a contract for services.The BBB serving Southern Nevada has processed 96 complaints about YP Corp. in the last 36 months. The company has an unsatisfactory record with the bureau because of a continuing pattern of complaints.The BBB recommends reading the fine print on all documents before you sign and questioning the motive of companies sending you a complimentary rebate.Massage therapist needed for city boardThe City of Colorado Springs needs a licensed massage therapist for the Board of Massage Examiners. Members of the board meet twice quarterly and serve three- year terms.The board determines qualifications for applicants requesting a massage therapy license. Members administer practical and written examinations as well as establish rules and regulations relating to the test.Sometimes, the group will be asked to meet with City Council and attend public hearings to review proposed modifications or additions to the requirements.Send letters of interest and resumes by Dec. 16 to City Council, Attn: Marti Devine, P.O.
