Technology helping Colorado Springs farmers' markets
Colorado Springs Business Journal, Nov 24, 2006 by CSBJ Staff Report
The Colorado Farmers' Market Association has received a $57,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide wireless terminals at farmers' markets for the processing of food stamp transactions.
In addition to purchasing the wireless terminals, which will allow the use of Electronic Benefit Transfer cards, the association will work with the USDA Food and Nutrition Service and the Colorado Department of Human Services to establish a statewide system for authorizing markets and processing foot stamp transactions.
The CFMA represents 58 farmers' markets throughout Colorado.
