Cast your vote

For world wonders, that is

What are the new seven wonders of the world? UNESCO wants to know. More than 480 human-made world heritage sites were examined and the list narrowed to 17 contenders selected by UNESCO, plus six added by popular demand. Now you can cast your vote for the ones you like, online at new7wonders.com. Will you choose the Mayan pyramid at Chichen Itza? The Great Wall of China? The Roman Colosseum? The Eiffel Tower? There's a description of each to help you decide. Votes will be taken through Sept. 30. An IMAX film will be made on the new seven wonders, proceeds from which will benefit UNESCO's new World Heritage Center in New York.

Time for a fling

Head for the highlands

Break out your bagpipes and wrap a kilt around yourself, then head to the annual Scottish-Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park Sept. 7-10. The festival, held each year the weekend after Labor Day, offers Celtic music, food, spirits and sporting events. Tossed a caber lately? Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for children 6-15. Call (800) 44-ESTES for information.

Sports City, USA

St. Louis named tops

What's the best sports city in America? According to a survey by The Sporting News, it's St. Louis. A quick direct flight from Colorado Springs, the city offers all major sports, with good venues, but also plays host this year to the USA Gymnastics Championships and the NCAA Wrestling Championships. The city's teams also hold many distinctions (the Rams football team won the first Super Bowl and the Blues hockey team rarely misses the Stanley Cup playoffs). And many natives have won fame (Stan Musial, Jackie Joyner-Kersee). For information on visiting St. Louis, call (800) 325-7962; for accommodations, call (800) 916-0040; or visit www.explorestlouis.com on the Internet.
