It's still a couple of weeks before you can go trick-or-treating, but don't let that stop you from getting into the Halloween spirit. Perhaps one of these haunted houses in the Denver area would do the trick:
Nightmare at Spider Mansion, Heritage Square, 18301 Colfax Ave., Golden. Open Friday through Sunday, 6-11 p.m., Monday through Thursday 6-10 through Oct. 31; $9, or $1 off with a donation of a nonperishable food item (benefits 9 Cares Colorado Shares). Looking for something a little less scary for the little ones? Ghosts in the Gardens, a family Halloween event, will be Oct. 27-29 at Hudson Gardens, 6115 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton. Show times are 5-8 p.m. and will include storytelling, hayrides, fortune-telling, magic, displays and music. Adults $9/kids $7.

"Landmark," opens at the William Havu Gallery today with a reception 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit features Colorado painters Tracy Felix (of Manitou Springs), Jeremy Hillhouse and Greg Navratil. All three provide a variety of approaches to landscape painting. The exhibit promises to include something for the photo-realist, "modernized" impression or stylized enthusiast. The abstract, figurative work of Michael Gadlin also will be on display.
