FRED HENRY KEY, SR.
Fred Henry Key, Sr. passed away April 17, 2002 at a local Hospice. Born April 18, 1918 in Maunee, Illinois to William and Elizabeth (Vincent) Key.
Married to Mary Alice Stephens, July 4, 1942 in Monticello, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife and two children Fred and Ramona; three grandchildren Heidi Van Den Aardweg, Mckenzie, Joann Van Den Aardweg and Gretel Van Den Aardweg; three great- grandchildren Laurel, Amelia and Grayson McKenzie. Brothers William Key and Lacy Key; sisters Myrtle Mesechoff, Louise Hall and Hyson Utley all of Mt. Vernon, Indiana. He worked as an automobile mechanic for over fifty years. He always enjoyed the Western Outdoors and he was an avid fisherman. During WWII he served five years in the regular Army, two of which were spent in Burma.
Private internment at a local Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers donations in his name to Pikes Peak Hospice or Silver Key would be appreciated. Public visitation 10:00 - 1:00 Friday April 19th Blunt Funeral Home.
THELMER GEORGE MOORE
Thelmer George Moore was born July 5, 1912 in Mountain View, MO., to Emma (Richardson) and George T. Moore. Thelmer, 89, passed away April 25, 2002 at his home in Simla.
Dec. 24, 1940 he married Laurine (Shorty) Sinison. Born to this union were Rita (Keith) Dean of Colorado Springs; Dick (Kathy) Moore of Heyworth, IL.; Charles (Bernadette) Moore of Golden, CO., and Sharon (Bud) Jolly of Livermore, CA. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three greats expected very soon.
Thelmer is survived by his wife, children, his siblings: Cledys (Janet) of Simla, Ed (Marge) of Stratford, TX., Lucille (Rolla) Cusic of Simla, Delbert (Jeanie) of Monte Vista, CO., Ron of Erie, IL., Verna Bell (Leland) Huscher of Colorado Springs, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his mother Emma when he was a young boy of 8, his father George and stepmother Eva (Kendall) later in life , as well as siblings Georgia, Kirk and June, and granddaughter Jeannine Jolly.
While he was a young boy, his family moved to Colorado where they engaged in farming and ranching. Thelmer attended school at Alta Vista and Simla Union High School where he loved sports. He also played baseball with several area teams for many years thereafter.
At the young age of 16, he and his father became partners in a custom threshing business, serving east central Colorado. Following his marriage in 1940, he served in the Army during World War II. After leaving the service the family moved back to the Simla area where he was well known for providing International Harvester parts and service to farmers throughout the area from 1947 until his retirement in 1975.
During his retirement years he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his many friends and family.
He thoroughly enjoyed visits to and from his children, grandchildren and extended family, all of whom will miss him greatly.
MAXINE (CECH) AAKRE
Maxine (Cech) Aakre, 84, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died Monday, April 15, 2002 in Naples, Florida.
She was born March 1st, 1918 in Burt, Iowa to Lloyd and Luella (Hanna) Scheink. She had served the community as president of Women in Construction, president of Pilot Club International, a member of The Sons of Norway and as a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Odven J. Aakre of Colorado Springs,Colorado; her daughters Tinker and Janie; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Stan Cech.
A memorial service will be announced for a later date.

DANIEL "DAN" MILLIAR
Daniel "Dan" Milliar, 90, passed away on April 16, 2002 in Colorado Springs. He was born on March 23, 1912 in New York, New York. Dan was married on December 22, 1932 in El Paso, Texas to Dorothy Gengher, who preceded him in death in 1982.
He was retired jeweler from the Zales Corporation and was a World Was II veteran. He was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter 1 in Security, V.F.W. Post 3917 in Security, a member of the military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 423, he was a 32nd degree Mason and was honored as the oldest employee of Rocky Mountain Greyhound Park.
Surviving Dan is his sister, Gertrude Berman of Fort Lee, New Jersey; two daughters, Sharon Kay (husband, Lt. Col Robert, USAF, Ret.) Venes and Carol Lee (husband, Richard) Hemple, both of Colorado Springs; four grandchildren, Keith Venes, Kami Anderssen, Clay Hemple and Todd Hemple; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hardemon and Gavin Daniel Venes.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Today, April 19, 2002 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses.
Burial will be at Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Dan's name to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
KATHY NEVADA FARRAR
Kathy Nevada Farrar, born on October 29, 1942 died on April 16, 2002 after a hard fought battle with breast cancer. She was 59 years old.
