HELEN ELAINE "SLATS" LACKNER

Helen Elaine "Slats" Lackner, born February 20, 1927 in Paonia, Colorado.

Helen was a graduate of Paonia High School. On November 21, 1947 she fell in love and married Tony R. Lackner. They moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1951 where they had two sons, Randy and Robert. In 1964 they moved to Colorado Springs where both Tony and Slats worked for and retired from Mountain Bell Telephone Company.

Tony passed away in 1980 and Slats continued living in Colorado Springs until 1999 when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be close to family. Slats passed away June 8, 2002, surrounded by the people she loved and those who loved her.

She is survived by her sons; Robert A. Lackner and his wife, Laura, Randy C. Lackner and his wife, Judy, as well as five grandchildren; David, Samantha, Tony, Kristen and Gilbert. She will be missed more than words can say. There was no kinder, sweeter soul.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 13, from 5:00 -8:00 PM at Swan Law Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 14, 11:00 AM, at Swan Law Cascade Chapel with the interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City. A reception will be held at 3:00 PM at the Radisson Inn, 8110 N. Academy Blvd in Colorado Springs.

NORMAN EUGENE BAY

Norman Eugene Bay, resident of Manitou Springs, moved to Nowata, OK. Born November 20, 1931 in Hooper, NE, to Boyd and Alverta Bay (deceased).

Survived by wife Melba and five children: Nancy Acridge, Calhan, CO, Michael Bay, Beaverton, OR, Dana Hale, Colorado Springs, Steven Bay, Bartlesville, OK, Patricia Fadgen, Ft. Leonardsville, MO, and seven grandchildren.

Served in the Air Force, retired from the Manitou Springs Fire Department.

ROGER D. OSHEIM

Roger D. Osheim, retired Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force, beloved husband of Cathy, father of Rev. Jennifer S. Durant, Oklahoma, Rebecca A., Silver Spring, Maryland, Lindsey C., Joshua D., Jeremiah M., Ryan A., Whitney E. Osheim of Black Forest, Danielle R. Pamperin, 2 grandchildren Kasey D. and Briana C. Mueller of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Brother of Larry Osheim, Lakeland, Georgia; and Sharon Gale, New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Public visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the Black Forest Lutheran Church with the Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mt. View Funeral Home.

LOLA E. DANIELS

Lola E. Daniels, 94, died on June 8, 2002 in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker, and had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1957. She was born on July 9, 1907, in Kensley County, Kansas to Robert R. Orton and Maude Duffy.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Amy McCarty Stevens, and Beth Vernon; Michael McCarty, son-in-law; two sisters, Vera Rush of Greeley and Julia Berry of Garnet, Kansas; and two great- grandchildren, Cooper and Sydney Stevens, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.D. "Dan" Daniels, one daughter, Ann McCarty, one brother, James Orton, and one sister Betty White, both of Hotchkiss, CO. Mrs. Daniels was a long standing member of the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs; B.O. Chapter of P.E.O., and Order of Eastern Star.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Get Set Fund, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou St., Colorado Springs, CO. 80903.

JOHN H. WILSON

John H. Wilson passed away June 7, 2002 at a local care center at the age of 92.

He was born August 22, 1909 in Fountain, CO, to John Wilson and Margaret Ellen Benedict, families of early pioneers. His grandmother was born in a covered wagon near Fountain in 1861. He was raised on a ranch south of Fountain and after serving in the Army during World War II. He returned to live on the family ranch and farm it. He married Rosina Evans on December 21, 1942 in Wichata Falls, TX. They were married over 50 years. She passed away in 1998. No children were born to this union.

They moved to Colorado Springs in 1955 where he worked for the county until his retirement. He spent his retirement years helping others with yard work and errands. His hobby was bowling which he did until age 90.

He is survived by nephews, Bud (Bea) Seymour, Don (Linda) Seymour, Dick (Alberta) Wilson, Gerald (Vicky) Borough; nieces, Mabel (Melvin) McGee, Mary (George) Baker, Flora McConnaughhay, Jean (Pete) Dunkel, Lola (Norm) Thompson, and Joyce (Dennis) Puttkammer. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Thomas, Hascal, Charles, and Eugene, two sisters, Mabel Borough and Gladys Seymour and many beloved cousins.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Swan Law Cascade Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.

Visitations will be 5:00 -8:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2002 at Swan Law Funeral Directors.

FERN C. ROTH

Fern C. Roth, 96, passed away June 8, 2002 at Medalion East Medical Center, Colorado Springs, CO.

She was born December 28, 1905 in Butler County, KS, to Ben F. and Emma (Bunnell) Covert. She received a degree in Home Economics from Wichita State University and taught for many years. On May 25, 1930, she married Frank H. Roth.
