BOUNDARIES: Spans 130 square miles along the Front Range in northern Colorado Springs, including the Air Force Academy.
THIS SCHOOL YEAR: The district has added one new school, the Classical Academy North. Other changes include new principals at Liberty High School, Rampart High School, Challenger Middle School, Mountain Ridge Middle School, Antelope Trails Elementary School, Prairie Hills Elementary School and Classical Academy East.

Feb. 6-7 - Staff training, all students off.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: June 2 - Tentative last day for students, depending on snow days. (Different for charter schools; check individual school.)
APPROVED CLASS SIZE: Kindergarten, 25; first grade, 26; second grade, 27; third grade, 28; fourth and fifth grades, 29. High school class sizes vary depending on subject.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE SPEAKERS: English as a Second Language program offered at selected schools. For information, contact your school or call Elaine Derbenwick, ESL program supervisor, at (719) 260-6600.
CHOICE PROCESS: Choice schools throughout the district offer special programs, such as an emphasis on math and science. For information, including application deadlines, for students living inside and outside the district, contact the Central Office at (719) 598-2566.
TRANSPORTATION POLICY: Busing is provided for elementary students who live more than 11/2 miles from their school and for secondary students who live more than 13/4 miles from their school. There are exceptions. For information, contact the Transportation Department at (719) 598-3414.
SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS: For students with special educational, mental or physical needs, contact the Special Education Office at (719) 260-6600.
BREAKFAST/LUNCH PROGRAM: Lunches are $1.70 for elementary students, $1.90 for middle school students and $2 for high school students. Breakfast is not available. Rampart and Pine Creek high schools offer a student-run lunch service, so prices may vary. Lunch service is not provided at Aspen Valley High School. Families that meet certain income guidelines may qualify for free and reduced- price lunches. Applications are available at each school and the district office.
DAY CARE: All elementary schools offer before- and after-school day care. Contact the individual school for information about costs and other information.
REGISTRATION: New students can register at the Welcome Center, 7610 N. Union Blvd., 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Students need to bring their birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security number, previous school's name and address and proof of residency such as a property deed, tax notice, lease or military quarters assignment letter. ATHLETICS INFORMATION: All students participating in athletics need to have physicals. Forms are available at all schools and at the receptionist's desk in the administration building. Contact individual schools for programs offered, practice times and other information.
