CAMPAIGN CENTRAL

Enough's enough
How much credit can someone take for siding with the majority in a 99-0 vote?
Republican U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard has turned it into a television spot. Democratic challenger Tom Strickland's campaign calls it "the ultimate hypocrisy."
The Colorado Republican Party began running ads Tuesday that portray Allard as a man willing to crack down on the recent wave of corporate fraud. Party members cite legislation approved without dissent by the Senate last week that subjects corporate executives who commit fraud to greater penalties.
"The news is sickening," the 30-second spots tout. "Corporate executives engaging in fraud that threatens workers' jobs and pensions, even the companies themselves. Wayne Allard said, 'Enough.'"

Strickland also is saying enough is enough. Campaign manager Brian Hardwick cited a 2000 vote by Allard that helped defeat a measure barring accounting firms from doing both auditing and consulting for the same client.
"Allard was an obstructionist who actively fought reform on behalf of one of his largest contributors, and now he's presenting himself to the voters of Colorado as a reformer," Hardwick said.
Endorsements
Ken Schinstine, Republican running for El Paso County treasurer, has been endorsed by several elected officials. Those include State Rep. He's also been endorsed by Republican activists Will Perkins and Mary Harold.
