NOW HIRING
0 Comments | Gazette, The (Colorado Springs), Oct 20, 2002
The Now Hiring column, which appears Sundays, offers resources for job seekers.
Employment must be a hot topic if the National Enquirer is carrying a banner about how to get a job. On the cover of the Oct. 22 issue, wedged between "Sopranos Star Exposed!" and "Tom Cruise Settles Gay Lawsuit!" is the teaser, "Secrets to Finding a Great Job." Tips include looking past job titles to positions that would use your skill set, marketing yourself as a problem-solver and researching a company before you sit down for an interview. The Enquirer does not, however, feature a classified ad section with job openings.

TIP OF THE WEEK
The time to talk about salary is when they say they want you for the job. Before that, it's a moot point. Don't give them a chance to eliminate you based on salary. You need to wait until they really want you. Once they're hot about you, they'll do what it takes to get you. - Jack Chapman, Negotiating Your Salary: How to Make $1,000 a Minute.
