A man called 911 a week ago today to say a pregnant woman shot herself in the head, but Colorado Springs police said Wednesday that's not how she died.
Leah Kathleen Gee, 24, was killed.
No arrests have been made, police spokesman Lt. Skip Arms said.
Gee was seven months pregnant when she was shot, and the baby was delivered that day through a C-section at Memorial Hospital, where he remains.
The El Paso County Department of Human Services has custody of him, said Lloyd Malone, child welfare administrator for the department.
In cases such as this, social workers meet with potential family members who want to gain custody of the infant. If they can't reach an agreement on who can best care for him, a court will decide.

About 6 a.m. March 27, a man called 911 to say Gee had shot herself at his home in the 800 block of Bennett Avenue near Platte Avenue and Circle Drive.
A police report identified the man as Gee's boyfriend, but Arms said Wednesday he does not know what kind of relationship the two had. Arms said the man is not the infant's father.
Gee died Saturday, and her death was ruled a homicide Sunday after an autopsy showed it could not have been suicide.
Arms said police did not go public with the homicide until Wednesday because detectives were trying to determine how many people were in the house at the time of the shooting. Detectives wanted to talk with those people before "they clammed up," Arms said.
"We still are not able to determine the number of people in the house," he said.
A woman who answered the phone Wednesday evening at the home of Gee's mother said the family didn't want to comment.
