Swallow Hill gets Legg up/ Guitar virtuoso happy to perform live

Adrian Legg knows how to pull strings - both on his guitar and in the audience.

Legg, who was voted "Guitarist of the Decade" by Guitar magazine, is both an acoustic virtuoso and a knee-slapping comedian. But it's only during his live performances that the comedian comes to play.

Legg will perform at the Swallow Hill Music Association with opener County Road X at 8p.m. today. Tickets at the door cost $12 ($10 for members). Swallow Hill is at 71 E. Yale Ave.

"Playing live is the be-all and end-all - the whole point," he says in a recent press release. "It's an immediate, transitory thing. You play something and it's gone. That's it. In that moment, you communicate."

Legg, who also is a commentator-at-large for the National Public Radio Show "All Things Considered," recently released his album "Fingers and Thumbs."
