50 years ago:

For the second time in as many days ornamental trees were reported missing in the north end of Colorado Springs. Arthur H. Lanman, landscape gardener at 2406 Wood Ave., Wednesday reported to police that 17 juniper trees planted in black five-gallon buckets had been taken from his property between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

75 years ago:

Ten Americans were ready tonight to carry on in the British open golf championship which will get under way tomorrow on two courses - St. Georges and Princes. Walter Hagen, Tommy Armour and "Wild Bill" Mehlhorn are the favorites among the Americans in the field of 271 players. The tournament has fallen to American stars six of the last seven years.

100 years ago:

The county offices will be better supplied with telephones in the new court house than they were in the old.
