APPROVED CLASS SIZE: Kindergarten-3, 20 students; grades 4-12, 25 students.
NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING: English as a Second Language classes are available. Contact Bev Tarpley, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, 686-2012, for information.
CHOICE PROCESS: Students who wish to attend a school other than their neighborhood school must obtain approval from the principals at the neighborhood school and the school the student wishes to attend.
TRANSPORTATION POLICY: Busing is provided based on factors such as whether a student must cross a busy road to get to school. For information, contact your school or Clyde Sjoerdsma, director of auxiliary services, 686-2017 or Dawn Dezellem, Durham School Services, 687-4411.
SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS: Parents of students with emotional, mental or physical special needs can contact Linda Murray, director of student services, 686-2012, for information about available services.
BREAKFAST/LUNCH PROGRAM: Lunch prices are $1.70 for elementary school students and $1.80 for middle school students. Breakfast is 90 cents for elementary school students and $1 for middle school students. High school breakfast and lunch prices vary based on items selected. Families who meet certain income guidelines may qualify for free and reduced-price meals. Applications are available at the schools and district office.
DAY CARE: Before- and after-school day care is available at all three elementary schools. For information, contact Marian Vahsholtz, 686-2316, Columbine Elementary; Heather Kenyon, 686-2039, Gateway Elementary; and Cindy Montgomery, 686-2415, Summit Elementary.
REGISTRATION: New students must bring current immunization and health records, name and address of previous school attended, copies of unofficial transcripts and social security number. Kindergarten and first-grade students must bring a birth certificate. Registration activities take place at the schools. Call for more information.
