> U.S. trade representative Robert Zoellick said that in the wake of the collapse the United States would concentrate on more bilateral and regional trade agreements. That might be more effective than seeking a comprehensive approach from 146 countries that are obviously far from agreement. But even in these negotiations, we have to be willing to lower some of our own protections, and eliminate some of our own government subsidies, if we expect others to do the same.
