D-11 has a $200 million budget and 33,000 students. That's more than $6,400 per student. I'll push for a district wide audit so taxpayers will regain enough confidence to consider future funding requests. That kind of accountability, along with parental choice and teacher empowerment are my goals.

Top priority in education: As a career-long teacher in D-11, I knew the frustration of dealing with the school bureaucracy. I knew parents could have more confidence in classroom teachers if district bureaucrats would get out of the way. Decision-making power should be shifted away from the district school campuses.
