BOYS BASKETBALL CSCS 67, Buena Vista 64

At Buena Vista: Seniors Tanner Johnson and Alec Shepherd scored 15 of Colorado Springs Christian School's 25 points in the fourth quarter helping the Lions (4-3) rally to beat Buena Vista Thursday in a nonleague game. Johnson hit 4 of 4 foul shots and drained a crucial 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. Shepherd scored eight of his game- high 22 points in the fourth quarter, as well, and senior center Tim Halliday neutralized Buena Vista post player John Solder during the pivotal stretch.

"We tried to take away their inside game, we got hot from foul line, and hit a couple of threes," CSCS coach Alan Karg said. "It was just a huge fourth quarter for us."

Kenny Kramer paced Buena Vista (4-2) with 14 points.

Lewis-Palmer 49, Pueblo West 35

At CSU-Pueblo: Nine players scored for No. 6 Lewis-Palmer, which improved to 3-1 with a first-round win in the Pueblo East Coaches Classic tournament. Seth Stingley scored 11 points to lead the Rangers.

Skyview 61, St. Mary's 51

At CSU-Pueblo: Poor shooting from the field and from the line cost St. Mary's in the first round of the Pueblo East Coaches Classic tournament. Junior guard Robert Powers hit four 3-pointers, part of a game-high 23-point effort, but Luke Langren led four Skyview players in double figures with 17 points. St. Mary's (2-4) made 9 of its 16 shots from 3-point range, but shot just 22 percent from the field for the game.

"We had a couple of small leads," St. Mary's coach Roy Vieux said. "For the most part, though, we couldn't get the ball to go in the hoop."

Sand Creek 53, Florence 48

At CSU-Pueblo: Sand Creek doubled its win total from a year ago, earning its second win in just its fifth game. David Bethel and Bryan Bruntz hit 12 points each to lead eight Sand Creek scorers. Jeremy Young's 15 points paced Florence (0-3).

"We played decent defense and showed our balance on offense," Sand Creek coach Mike Aragon said. "The kids don't think they played that well, but it's nice to get our second win."

GIRLS BASKETBALL Woodland Park 56, Summit 55 (OT)

At Woodland Park: Nicole Green drained a 12-foot jump shot with 2 seconds left in overtime to lift Pikes Peak No. 9 Woodland Park to its fifth consecutive win.

Green, a senior guard, watched a large portion of the game from the bench due to foul trouble and finished with six points.

"We got big performances off the bench from players like Melissa Urban, who led the team with four assists, tonight," Woodland Park coach Laura-Lee Barron said. Woodland Park (5-1) hasn't lost since dropping its season opener to No. 1 Cheyenne Mountain. Kelly Bullard's 15 points led the Panthers. Emilee Sandsmark had 12 for Summit (3-3).

Cheyenne Mountain 57, Mitchell 44

At Mitchell: Cheyenne Mountain (No. 1) opened with a 19-6 first- quarter run, stretched its lead in the second, then coasted the rest of the way to remain unbeaten. Holly Benson scored 23 points to lead Cheyenne Mountain (6-0). Jessica Anderson led Mitchell (4-2) with 14.

GIRLS SWIMMING Palmer 136, Coronado 48

At Palmer: Palmer improved to 3-0 in dual meets with a few expected performances and a few surprising ones. The Terrors qualified for the state meet for the third time in the 200 medley relay (2:02.28), and statemeet veteran Erica Ross turned in another qualifying effort while winning the 100 free (56.59).
