May said he won't take contributions from children too young to make their own decisions or from criminal defense lawyers.

May's campaign can collect as much as $400 per person because he agreed not to spend more than $65,000 on the race. Newsome is capped at $200 per person because he did not agree to the voluntary spending cap. May raised $10,800 through the end of December, the date of the last campaign finance report.
