Mary and Gary have continued their travels throughout the United States and Mexico since Gary's retirement. Gary was never one to "wait for a better time" and has been enjoying his retirement to the fullest. They have visited Mazatlan, Alaska, Puerto Vallarta, friends in Texas and beautiful Glenwood Springs where they honeymooned 39 years before. In addition, Gary always enjoyed his beautiful backyard, flowers, gardening, reading, grilling steaks, and creating delicious gourmet sauces from scratch. Gary had a most incredible love of life and radiated a happiness that affected everyone around him. He was a fantastic dad and a best friend to his daughter, Dawn. He touched many lives and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Eiber; daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Charles Eiber-Thurmond; father, Gary F. Eiber, Sr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam and Terry McClelland and Jill and John McKune, a nephew, Garry and his wife, Carrie McClelland and their two children Jean and Jessica. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Sheraton Hotel, Summit Ballroom, 2886 S. Circle Drive in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Gary's name. Gary loved the zoo - especially the giraffes. They have pretty eyelashes, you know!
