SGT. MAJOR JAMES ALLEN HILL

Retired Sgt. Major James Allen Hill was born in Plumerville, AR, on January 26, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents William Hill and Margie Garmon and his brother L. T. Strickland.
He attended public school in Arkansas and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from National College. During his tenure in the Army he received the Army Service Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon-4, Good Conduct Medal with 8th Award, Overseas Service Ribbon-3 and Army Commendation Medal. He retired in 1988, after 24 years of service with the ranking of Sgt. Major.

He departed this life on Friday, July 30, 2004. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Pearl J. Hill; four children, Cynthia M. Hill (Denver, CO), Denise V. Hill (Beacon, NY), James A. Hill, Jr., (Thornton, CO) and Kimberley M. Hill (Ann Arbor, MI); three brothers, William Hill, Jr., (Portageville, MO), Martin Garmon (Cape Giradeau, MO), and Marvin Garmon (Huber Heights, Ohio); two sisters, Brenda Garmon (Portageville, MO) and Jessie Kirby (San Antonio, TX); the extended family of Oliver and Maxine Willingham and family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Evergreen Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Monday, August 9, 2004 at Evergreen Funeral Home. The family asks that donations be sent to the American Heart Association.
