El Paso County led state change on permits for concealed guns

The man was leaving a movie late one night with his family. He was approached by four youths who, the man was convinced, were going to harass him and his family, or rob them. All the man had to do was pull back his jacket and show them his gun.

"You don't want to go there," the man told the youths, Anderson said.

They immediately backed off.

"He was glad he didn't have to use it," Anderson said. "But he was appreciative because he had it.

"More than just the concealed-handgun permit is people's right not to be victims. Their right to self-defense shouldn't be denied by the government."
