Man died of hypothermia

A 40-year-old man found dead Monday in a backyard in north- central Colorado Springs died of hypothermia, the El Paso County Coroner's Office said Wednesday.

John Faulkner's nude body was found about 2 p.m. in the 3200 block of Illinois Avenue, near Fillmore Street and North Nevada Avenue.

He had a blood-alcohol content of 0.344, coroner officials said.

Air Force secretary to take oath

A former Air Force Academy professor will take over as the service's top civilian leader during a ceremony today at the school's Mitchell Hall.

Michael W. Wynne will be sworn in as secretary of the Air Force during a noon meal gathering of 4,200 cadets. Wynne, confirmed Oct. 28 by the Senate, has served in the Defense Department since 2001, most recently as an acting undersecretary overseeing weapons purchases, logistics and technology.

Wynne, a graduate of West Point, crossed over to take an Air Force commission. He served seven years, including a stint teaching space science at the academy.

After leaving the Air Force, Wynne worked in the defense industry, retiring in 1999 as vice president of General Dynamics, which makes F-16 fighters and M-1 tanks.

He and top Air Force brass are at the academy this week for closed-door policy meetings that coincide with Saturday's Army-Air Force football game.

Celebration of life for student

A celebration of the life of Antelope Trails student Ian McCrimmon will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Antelope Trails Elementary School.

Ian was in third grade at Antelope Trails in Academy School Disrict 20. He became ill Monday at school and died at a Colorado Springs hospital. His family has invited his friends and the Antelope Trails community to the service.

Antelope Trails is at 15280 Jessie Drive in Gleneagle.

Hospital will hold bake sale

Memorial Hospital will hold the "Taste of Memorial Bake Sale" from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at 1400 E. Boulder St.

The annual bake sale is to promote a new cookbook that will be available. All proceeds will benefit Memorial Hospital programs.

County summit canceled

The "Making the Work Place for Families and Employers-El Paso County's Employers" summit scheduled for Friday at the Antlers Hilton hotel has been canceled until the spring.
