A roundup of news from the Legislature

Contraception bill

DENVER - A bill that would allow pharmacists to prescribe emergency contraception won final approval in the Senate on Friday and now goes to Gov. Bill Owens.

Owens has said he has "serious concerns" about House Bill 1212, a comment that some interpret to mean that he's likely to veto the bill.

HB1212 would let pharmacists prescribe the so-called morning- after pill known as Plan B, a series of two pills that is taken after intercourse.

The final vote in the Senate was 21-14. All members of the El Paso County Senate delegation voted against it.
