ROTATION STILL UNCERTAIN

Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds still is trying to find the final pieces of the eightor nine-man rotation he wants to use for the bulk of the season.

In a 73-49 victory over Western State on Wednesday, the Falcons went with the same starting lineup they used in their first two games -- guards Tim Anderson and Evan Washington, forwards Anwar Johnson and Matt Holland and center Keith Maren -- and they got standout play from junior forward Andrew Henke and senior center Eric Kenzik off the bench.

Henke led the Falcons in scoring for the second time this season with 15 points, while Kenzik scored six points and grabbed five rebounds.

Two players making a push for the eighth and ninth spots are senior Adam Hood and freshman Derek Brooks.

"I think Derek played very well tonight," Reynolds said. "He played nine minutes, had five points. Again, I thought Adam Hood was solid."

Catch-22

Because of the amount of time Anderson will spend on the floor during games this season, coaches have tried to limit how much work he does in practices. But limited practice time might explain why Anderson shot the ball poorly Wednesday, Reynolds said.

Though Anderson was his disruptive self on defense (four steals, one blocked shot) and distributed the ball well on offense (five assists), he made only 1 of 7 shots from the floor.

Balanced effort

Air Force outrebounded Western State 35-29. Five Falcons had four or five rebounds.
